Hi, my name is Bethany Longwell. I am eighteen years old and have been home schooled all my life. I like to ride horses, hang out with my friends, ski, snowboard, and talk about writing with anybody who writes.
I have been writing since I was about fifteen when my mom gave an assignment to write a poem based on a scripture. I chose psalm 23. And figured out, what do you know, I can write! Ever since then, writing poetry has been my way of releasing stress, and many other emotions.
I have had lots of fun, learning some of the ins and outs of poetry. My mom had my sister Hannah, and I, take a poetry writing course. For me, it was fun. But Hannah wasn’t so thrilled. So I just told her that we would write together, and surprise each other with our poems, and they could be as silly as we wanted. We ended up having lots of fun, laughing at each others poetry, and now Hannah knows how to write poems to make people laugh.
Now, since I’ve learned how to write, my goals are to show the heart of God in poetry, and to show others that they can write poetry too.
